His voice wasn't being heard. He knew it. He worried. He was questioning whether he had what it takes to be a leader. Technically he was very strong but he was new to a leadership role. Could he succeed? I was confident that he could. We agreed to meet weekly. These meetings provided him with confidential and supportive space for him to reflect. He voiced his concerns, his uncertainties as well as his hopes and desires. I listened to him. I challenged him. At times our conversations were difficult but they were always honest, sincere and good-humoured. His desire to succeed was strong. He began to notice improvements. Others did too. Week by week he gained confidence in his abilities. He found his voice. Others took notice. His relationships strengthened. He built on his successes. He flourished.
